FSU is seeking candidates for an Assistant in Research position to work with the cryogenics and superconducting linear accelerator at the John D. Fox accelerator laboratory. The ideal candidate is an individual who likes mastering multiple components of a unique accelerator facility, performing complex technical procedures in set up, maintenance and new developments. On-the-job training will be provided. The specific responsibilities include operating the liquid-Helium (LHE) refrigerator facility including optimization of Helium production, monitoring and correcting alarm conditions as well as performing maintenance of the superconducting linear accelerator systems. The cryogenic facility will undergo significant upgrades in the coming years, including the installation of a helium recovery system and a new turbine LHE refrigerator. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in these upgrades and have the opportunity to develop one-of-a-kind solutions with leading-edge cryogenic systems and accelerators.
Qualifications
Academic master’s degree or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in Experimental Physics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and demonstrated ability to perform required duties.
